Details
For the past twelve months ECCVS has been delivering training on Governance issues for Trustees and those working to support the Trustees of Voluntary Sector organisations in Cornwall under a project funded by the Change-Up programme. The training concentrated on various aspects of the Trustees role within the organisations and covered topics such as:
- Roles and responsibilities of Trustees
- Relevant organisational structures
- Effective meetings
This particular project has now come to a close, but during the project Anna Hoyle the Fieldwork Manager was asked to become a member of the National Governance Hub. This allows ECCVS to make sure that the voice of the Trustees within rural areas is heard at a National strategic level.
Interim Regional Governance Champions
In September 2006 ECCVS Fieldwork Manager Anna Hoyle was appointed as the Interim Regional Champion for Charities Trustee Networks and the National Governance Hub.
This role, which is designed to support Trustees and the creation of Trustee Networks within the South West Region and to promote the Code of Good Governance is for the next six months and after that time it is hoped that funding will be obtained to appoint a permanent Regional Champion.
The role of the Interim Champion includes:
- making contact with networks
- offering support in setting up a network and in planning network events
- speaking at events and helping to identify speakers and topics for network events
- acting as a conduit for communication between CTN and networks and between CTN and trustees
- organising and running two seminars a year for networks in each region
- promoting Good Governance; a Code for the Voluntary and Community Sector, to voluntary and community organisations in your region
- raising awareness of good governance and trusteeship
For further information contact: Anna Hoyle on 01208 75799.
